Francois Vigneault’s Titan is coming to the United States. The popular French Canadian graphic novel will be printed in the U.S. for the first time by Oni Press. The comic is a thought-provoking science-fiction thriller with plenty of commentary on historical and social events. Titan tells the story of MNGR First Class João da Silva as he arrives on the moon of Titan to take charge of Homestead Station. There’s an awkward debate over 5G happening between U.S. phone carriers and the Federal Aviation Administration. The latest development comes in the form of two new airworthiness directives regarding 5G being adopted by the FAA. AT&T and Verizon acquired C-Band spectrum licenses to expand 5G spectrum before the FAA requested a delay over safety concerns for pilots. Despite approval from the Federal Communications Commission that includes unused spectrum to protect altimeters, the FAA is being lobbied to halt the rollout of expanded 5G spectrum for fear of interference with airplanes....

Facebook’s Moments app, launched last summer, makes it easier to share photos with your friends by using both location data and face-recognition to identify which friends were with you when the photos were taken. The latest version of the app now lets you include videos too – but it can’t yet recognize faces in those, so you’ll have to add them manually. Both photos and images are now presented as a collage, and there are new upload options, including the option to wait for a WiFi connection to avoid burning through your mobile data....

A scoop from CNET today says that Facebook will begin shutting down Moments on February 25 — an app launched to help simplify photo sharing between friends. Initially launched in 2015, the failing service saw exceedingly low usage by users, with data pointing to just 80,000 downloads in the previous month. The premise of Moments was simple — share photos between groups of friends privately, circumventing a public Facebook sharing process or the hassle of group texting entire albums....

A new study has been published that aims to show how popular Apple and Google’s first-party apps are and to specifically make the case that they limit competition as they’re preinstalled. The Verge got an exclusive look at the study that was paid for by one of Apple and Google’s biggest critics. However, Apple says the study was “seriously flawed.” Facebook paid Comscore to conduct the study that included asking about 4,000 people last fall how they use iOS with default and third-party apps....

On the day that the Apple/Epic case begins, a senior Google engineer has used a blog post to undermine a key part of the Cupertino company’s antitrust defense. Apple denies that the iOS App Store amounts to a monopoly, for two reasons. First, it says that developers can create apps for other platforms, like Android and games consoles. One of the key features of regular AirPods is ear detection, which automatically pauses the song when you take the earphones off. We’ve learned that AirPods Studio will have a similar feature, but it will work in a different way. Instead of ear detection, Apple is working to include sensors that can detect whether the headphones are on your head or neck.
