So – rumours emerging from the excellent Create Digital Music website suggest that the new visualiser inside of iTunes 8 may be based on the Magnetosphere visualiser until recently made available as an iTunes plug-in. As reported by video producer and designer Allan White, Magnetosphere has recently been sold to a third party, and the nature of the visualiser closely matches the description of the feature given by Digg founder Kevin Rose earlier this week....

Every director worth their salt has a trademark that tells audiences they’re watching one of their films. Wes Anderson has symmetrical framing, Martin Scorsese has long tracking shots, and Quentin Tarantino has too many trademarks to name (tales of revenge, close-ups of bare feet, 70s classics on the soundtrack etc.). M. Night Shyamalan’s trademark is a little more on-the-nose – he uses plot twists to tell his stories. Some are good, some are bad, and some are terrible....

Netflix’s Trinkets soundtrack is a mix of genres to fit the varying personalities of Elodie, Moe and Tabitha. The usual gang of idiots are still going strong at MAD Magazine, using February’s issue to send up the hottest shows on television (of yesterday and today). But does it count as a parody… if it’s actually smarter than what viewers are already getting? After rumors claimed that MAD Magazine was shutting down back in July, DC Comics was quick to reassure fans that wasn’t the case. While still being released on its bimonthly schedule, DC would be turning to both vintage MAD material and new content going forward....

Newly announced merchandise may have revealed that saving the world will be a family affair in Shazam! Starring Zachary Levi (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) in the titular role, the film will be DC’s first release of 2019. Following on from the huge success of Aquaman, it will also be the latest attempt by DC and Warner Bros. to shift the overall tone and direction of the DCEU. Shazam! will tell the story of Billy Batson (Asher Angel), a young orphan and frequent runaway who, after a fateful encounter with The Wizard (Djimon Hounsou), finds himself imbued with the ability to transform into a full-grown superhero....

All the main UK mobile carriers promised they had no plans to reintroduce European roaming charges after Brexit. EE was the first to do a U-turn, and now Vodafone has followed suit… Background Mobile phone users visiting other countries typically pay roaming charges when they use their mobile phone. This means they can’t take advantage of minutes, texts, or (especially) data included in their plan, and will pay higher out-of-plan charges than they would at home....

ExpressVPN has been updated to version 11.5.0 for macOS users. It finally brings native support for Apple silicon Macs, which means M1 and M2 Mac users can take full advantage of this VPN running natively on their computers. Apple Maps has released a new step-by-step walking guide in augmented reality (AR) in Tokyo, found by Ata Distance. This feature gives you in-depth details on how to get to your destination by walking. Ata Distance believes AR walking guidance is especially helpful for indoor station maps that are tricky to navigate in underground stations.
