Facebook introduced its Instant Article format for publishers two years ago as a way to make loading content in the News Feed much faster, but the format hasn’t been adopted as widely as the social network had hoped. Now Facebook is rolling out new tools for publishers to make Instant Articles compatible with Apple News and Google AMP formats. Facebook says it has heard from publishers that supporting multiple formats like Google AMP, Apple News, and Instant Articles can require a lot of upfront work....

For the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2021, the company reported sales of $635.2 million, up 23% from the same period in 2020. Non-GAAP net income was $131.8 million, up 36% from fourth quarter 2020, or 96 cents per share diluted earnings. On a GAAP basis, fourth quarter net income was 87 cents a share. Wall Street analysts had pegged the company’s fourth quarter earnings at 89 cents a share, on revenue of $593....

Disney continues to rule the entertainment industry. This year, it will get even bigger. The purchase of 21st Century Fox is a huge contributing factor, but so is Disney’s new end-of-year plan. Disney Plus will be the company’s attempt at entering the world of streaming services. A whole host of Marvel TV shows are expecting to release exclusively on the Disney streaming service, Disney Play. Disney intends to launch their new service, a rival for Netflix, late next year. It’s considered the Mouse House’s biggest, strategic priority once the Disney/Fox acquisition is complete, and every Disney subsidiary is expected to play its part. It’s as yet unclear whether or not Disney intend these shows to drop an entire season at a time, as with Netflix, or whether they’ll instead choose a more traditional weekly drop....

Stage Manager will be coming to more iPad Pros with iPadOS 16, and that’s a policy change worth applauding. Apple originally planned to limit the new multitasking feature to iPads powered by its M1 chip. While there are some drawbacks of this feature shift, the change bodes well for the original class of iPads.
