The Flash movie star Ezra Miller confirms he recently met with the project’s latest directors, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, and praises their work. Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Flash movie - which may or may not be titled Flashpoint - has seen a revolving door of directors since the project was first revealed in 2014 with Miller starring. Seth Grahame-Smith was set to direct, but eventually left the project. Then Dope filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa was recruited by Warner Bros. While he was on board, he cast Kiersey Clemons as Iris West and worked on a script that may have involved Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

However, Famuyiwa parted ways with The Flash project and it took some time for Warner Bros. to find a new director for the project. Earlier this year, it was reported that the studio had tapped Spider-Man: Homecoming writers Goldstein and Daley to direct The Flash movie. The duo were interested in the film because The Flash is a “relatable” superhero in a way that Superman isn’t - something they also enjoyed about adapting Peter Parker’s character while working on Homecoming. Other than that tidbit, and the title potentially being revealed as Flashpoint, though, we know very little about the directors’ upcoming DC movie. However, we do know it seems to be moving forward if Miller’s comments are any indication.

During an appearance at Wizard World Comic Con this past weekend (via Fandom Spotlite), Miller was asked by a fan if he’d met the directors of The Flash movie. Miller responded, “Yeah, I did. I met them. I met them recently. They’re really, really, really cool guys. I really like their work a lot. I think they’re really great.” Goldstein and Daley have worked together a number of times, co-writing Horrible Bosses and its sequel, as well as co-directing 2014’s Vacation and 2018’s Game Night.

Unfortunately, Miller didn’t offer any insight into when movie may start filming. Previous reports indicated The Flash could start filming this summer, aiming for a 2020 release date. A further report that Warner Bros. is lining up The Flash and Batgirl to follow Wonder Woman 2 - which currently holds a late 2019 release date - seems to back up this potential production timeline for Miller’s standalone DC film. If that’s the case, and The Flash movie starts filming this summer, then major casting announcements and production updates should be right around the corner - especially if cameras start rolling around the time of San Diego Comic-Con in July.

As for whether The Flash movie will be titled Flashpoint, that remains to be seen. That title was unveiled at SDCC last summer, as part of Warner Bros. and DC Films’ upcoming slate. But that slate was predominantly movies that were in various stages of development, so it’s possible it was just a working title at the time. If production is set to get underway this year, Warner Bros. may unveil the official title of The Flash movie at SDCC. The convention is the most likely venue for any big DC Films Universe announcements. So, until then, fans will have to make do with Miller’s brief update about The Flash movie.
